News from the Magnolia Pointe Custom Association

Our first Community party was a hit with those that braved our coldest December on record. Thank you to Cheryl Sandwell and Jim Rahman for organizing this first event, it was lots of fun with cookies to decorate and all the Hot Chocolate you could drink – I here the kids came out of their sugar coma just in time for Santa. It was great fun, and we are having another get together just before our January meeting – Thursday, January 20 at the Clubhouse 6pm. Please join us before the meeting for pizza and get to know your neighbors!

Thanks to all who decorated for the Holidays, it was wonderful walking, and driving, around to see some incredible displays. This was our last year for the white Christmas Trees at the round about. I am sure everyone noticed they started off ready to compete for the Spectacle of Lights, but alas Charlie Brown’s was looking like the Rockefeller Center Tree by the end of the season. I have been trying to bargain shop after the Holiday and have not found the same style of tree, but hope that a wave of new inspiration will hit us by next year – come on 90% sales!

The mailboxes painting makeover is complete along with the new number and flags. It looks great to have the same color and lettering again (the rouge on the flag is fabulous). Thanks to all for their patience during the process. The doors even close! Wobble yet to come…

We are looking at plans for the roundabouts to help spruce them up and create a welcoming environment. With the cold weather, comes damage to landscaping. Though the plants may appear dead, many times they will come back to life in the spring when our warmer temperatures return. Be careful not to trim the brown too early, this can protect the plant from further damage. We still have a few weeks left of colder temperatures, so all should be green again soon. If you know that you need to replace your sod this year, let Wilma know. We are trying to get a better rate on Sod by doing a bulk order. This will help keep some of the green in your wallet instead of in the yard.

The Board has four scheduled meetings each year (once per quarter). Our goal is to foster an atmosphere that encourages fresh ideas and create better response to any concerns – we look forward to meeting more neighbors. Please visit us at one of the meetings or send your comments and suggestions to our Manager – Wilma Wilma@camlakecounty.com

Thank you for your support and all the best in 2011
